The main problem with FTI’s Internet Booking Engine (IBE) filters lies in their significant usability issues, which hinder users from efficiently finding their ideal hotel options. The current filters are overly complex and not intuitive, leading to user confusion and frustration. Elderly users find the calendar menu particularly challenging to navigate, and the "More Filters" popup is not optimized for smaller screens, causing layout issues. Additionally, users experience difficulty modifying filters, dates, and destinations after the initial search, and the fixed filter bar becomes inaccessible when scrolling. As a result, users struggle to refine their search effectively, which can lead to abandonment of the booking process and a decrease in overall user satisfaction.
Assessing UX before redesigning

Never freeze the UI on a single input

Design Solution
Organized Filter Options
Expand filter options to include additional criteria such as hotel features, room amenities, etc. Categorize filters in a way that make it easier for the user to find a specific filter.
Satisfaction
Prevent auto filter resets and streamline the filtering process to reduce user frustration and effort. (Especially when they are going back and forth between the pages.)
Accessibility
Enhance filter accessibility and clarity, particularly for elderly users and those accessing the website on smaller screens.
